Over 170 original objects, couture uniforms, emblematic posters, period seats, aircraft models, filmed archives, immersive sets… L’Envol des Pionniers, in Toulouse, presents for a period of two years, the temporary exhibition “Air France, A Story of Elegance”, an invitation to travel to the history’s heart of the French national airline, dedicated to the art of travel according to Air France.

Follow the history of Air France and Toulouse
For over 90 years, Air France has been spreading the art of French-style travel around the world. With over 170 objects on display, this immersive exhibition plunges you into the world of Air France, from 1933 to nowadays, and highlights its special bond with Toulouse, one of the world’s greatest aeronautical capitals, through the history of the emblematic French airline. The exhibition is also an opportunity to rediscover the strong relationship that has always bound Toulouse to the airline, in historic buildings operated by Air France for 70 years.

A preview of the exhibition at Galeries Lafayette
In early February, Galeries Lafayette Toulouse teamed up with L’Envol des Pionniers to offer a preview of the “Air France, une histoire d’élégance” exhibition. An authentic Dior stewardess uniform from 1962, a Polar Line suitcase from the 1960s, a Christian Lacroix stewardess uniform from 2005 and a Christian Lacroix cabin attendant uniform from 2005 were on display.

A bit of Elegance history
The art of travel according to Air France: “A Story of Elegance” that began when the company was founded in 1933. Even back then, Air France offered a unique travel experience in which every detail, from the layout of the aircraft to the staff’s uniforms, embodied French elegance and savoir-faire.

A rich and fascinating history, in dialogue with the heritage of Lignes Aériennes Latécoère and Compagnie générale Aéropostale. Dedicated to the early days of aeronautics, to the creation of Lignes Aériennes Latécoère and Compagnie Générale Aéropostale, L’Envol des Pionniers is located in Toulouse Montaudran, on the historic site from which Aeropostale planes left for Africa and South America between 1918 and 1933.
