Welcome to L'Envol des Pionniers, the birthplace of Toulouse's love affair with aeroplanes. I'm Louis, pilot.

Here, I'm going to tell you how this passion began! It all began when the boss, Pierre Georges Latécoère, who had arrived in Toulouse to build wagons, set up a factory in Montaudran to manufacture SALMSON 2A2 aircraft under licence. The Great War consumed so many of them! To launch production, engineers arrived in Toulouse, bringing their know-how to the pink city. But what made the boss unique was that, after the war, not only did he want to keep his aircraft manufacturing business going, but he also decided to use the military surplus to build a civilian airliner to carry mail to South America. There was just one problem: the project was unfeasible, so there was only one thing left to do: make it happen!

A place steeped in history

Located in Toulouse, in the heart of the Montaudran district, L'Envol des Pionniers welcomes you for an immersive and memorable visit, for all !

Brilliant! The exhibition and the tour take us back to the previous century, with some of the exceptional people who helped our country rise to the top. A must-see!

My favourite museum in Toulouse, without a doubt!

It's a great museum to explore, and very immersive. I really enjoyed the interviews with people who worked at Air France and reading some of the letters. I really liked the piece about Saint Exupéry.
